Let this be the moment where every person who said “Never Again” recognizes what that truly demands.

On the morning of July 8th, 2025, outside San Francisco Immigration Court, an unmarked ICE SUV rammed through a crowd of protesters trying to prevent the abduction of a detained immigrant. The vehicle pushed through human bodies. At least one person was thrown from the hood and injured. That protester later said, “I was bleeding everywhere. They were brutal to those of us trying to exercise our rights and protect our community.”

Videos and firsthand witness reports confirm what many feared: ICE agents storming the crowd in full militarized gear, some without identifying badges. They carried rifles, batons, and canisters of pepper spray. They dragged people. They shoved and struck them. They doused protesters with chemicals. One account even describes a matte black rifle aimed directly at the crowd, including members of the press. And San Francisco Police? They stood by and watched.

Now, Tom Homan is headed to Portland next, Trump has already floated the idea of federal takeovers of New York and Washington. We cannot pretend like this will stay isolated.

So let’s not pretend anymore. Let’s stop pretending like ICE is here to protect communities. ICE cannot be called a legitimate enforcement agency. Not when it continues to operate like a domestic terrorist organization shielded under the protection of state and federal power. It hide its agents, silences its victims, and now it’s asking permission to continue without consequence. By now most of us realize they hide their faces and identities because they know what they’re doing is indefensible, despite this, this is the model they intend to spread across the country.

We are being shown what fascism looks like when it no longer feels the need to hide.

Where are the institutions we were taught to trust? The courts? The lawmakers? The police? They are silent. Useless. They are watching people be trampled and brutalized yet all they offer are platitudes while ICE builds the machinery of a police state in plain sight. They posture and post while the rights they swore to defend are crushed under SUVs. They won’t go past performative actions even when they see our democracy on the line.

So the burden falls on us. The people. On every person who refuses to live under tyranny. To protect the communities they target.

We cannot afford to wait for help that will never come. We must refuse to comply.

We must escalate. We must take to the streets. We must blockade, disrupt, intervene. That means mass mobilization. That means physical presence. That means stopping deportation vans, ICE operations, and refusing to let this violence pass in silence. We have reached the point where civil disobedience must become the bare minimum.
